The Mediated Effects of Decentering on the Relationship between the Emotional Intelligence and Stress of Art Psychological Counselors

Abstract
This study was to find the correlation between the emotional intelligence and the stress of art psychological counselors, and to analyze the mediated effect of decentering on the emotional intelligence and the stress of art psychological counselors. A total of 260 art psychological counselors who live in 7 metropolitan cities responded to the questionnaire. The correlations among variables of the collected data were analyzed and then the mediated effect verification was conducted through a path analysis by using the SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, The higher the emotional intelligence of art psychological counselors is, the decentering has increased while the stress has decreased. Second, decentering was found to have a partial mediated effect on the tight relationship between emotional intelligence and stress. This implies emotional intelligence of art psychological counselors has an indirect effect rather than a direct effect through a parameter of decentering. This results suggest that it is effective to intervene in decentering as well as emotional ability as the way to reduce the stress of art psychological counselors. Finally, the study results were discussed, and the limitations of this study were suggested.
